Books Come to Them

Blue and white cyanotype (sun) print
Another in a series of cyanotype (sun prints) made recently at home.

The nearly 200-year old Cyanotype process has become a fun outlet for me because I can combine the use of collage, mixed media, printmaking, and a characteristic of Polaroid film that makes it particularly special — each print is a one-of-a-kind.

This one was particularly interesting in how the sunlight burned through the piece of torn newsprint to create an image containing parts of both sides of the sheet. And similarly how overlapping pieces of transparency film affected the image produced. I feel like I’m just getting warmed up, and am excited to keep experimenting.
