Kansas City Sewer
As found in Kansas City in 2018 while visiting Hallmark HQ with Adobe.

While traveling, I make a point to try to see a city on foot as much as possible. I enjoy walking generally, but moving at a human pace gives you a different perspective and makes it possible to see things you might otherwise miss. Small details. Things hiding in the shadows or in the cracks in the sidewalk.

Sewer covers are one such example, easily overlooked in their ubiquitousness. But someone designed it, as have others elsewhere around the globe. In Minneapolis, there’s an entire series each with different illustrations. The fountain design on this one made me chuckle. It’s beautifully simple — Draplin would approve — but also simply feels like there was someone paying attention in creating it. I imagine they’re happy whenever someone notices.
